BT5 R1 IS the final version.
My question is simple
Why cannot BT5 be installed and run
I have now tried both 64bit and 32bit and the furthest I get is to the splash screen where one should do startx, but after that the screen goes black and nothing more happens.
I did the fix-splash before that, but not matter what it will not run, only in safemode
What am I doing wrong
Backtrack 5R1 works great and I have never had any issues with the previous versions.
So what is wrong with the final version? Is it not made to work, or am I to stupid to know how?
Please help as I would really want to use this latest package
PS. Running it on a Acer Aspire 5742Z laptop
BT5 R1 IS the final version.
How come there is two seprate download options in the download section then? Backtrack 5 and Backtrack 5 R1 both for GNOME and KDE
See my confusion?
Ok, let me explain. BT5 was the first release. BT5R1 (R1 stands for revision 1) was kind of a "remake" where they (developers) fixed bugs reported by the community, added requested tools, etc... That's why BT5R1 works fine. Gnome and KDE versions were made to give BT5 users a choice on which graphical environment they would have installed with BT5.
Don't I look like the funny one now, my thought where that R1 represented realease candidate 1 - But hey, thanks for clearing that up and by that ending a 2 weeks long trail of error on my part.
I will now revert back to, or should I say revert forward to R1.. Thank you sir, learn something new everyday![]()
No problem, I'm here to help where I can![]()
