    Default Possible to Disable OnBoard wlan Card?

    Hi,
    wlan0 is a onboard card but i did never use this one, also is it possible to disable it complete?
    I run only Backtrack on my laptop and use only The USB Alfa awus036nh adapter!

    You should be able to turn off your onboard wireless card in the BIOS. That way, BackTrack will never see it.
    If I could figure out how to scuba dive & hack at the same time, there would be nothing I couldn't do...

    I have the same set up, it doesn't really hurt anything unless you're actively using it for something, otherwise it just kind of sits there, for me anyway.

    It can also be pretty useful, like for attacks and techniques which can use two wireless cards.

    You could use it to Associate to one AP, to provide internet for your MITM attacks on wireless stations...or something.

    Just a little hint:
    If you dont want do shut-off it with the bios you can probaply do it while logged in with:

    sudo wlanX down

    and reenable it wit:

    sudo wlanX up

    Just in case you want to switch between the cards.
