Now do you know if this will fix the i915 intel driver issue that it's not being loaded? on R1 it worked fine but on R2 it's not working or loading anything anymore. I am able to log into BK but it's the default standard resolution.
After loading the new kernel, my laptop fan ran constantly, with disastrous consequences for battery life.
Passing these commands to the kernel fixed it:
Powertop estimates of power consumption improved from 14w to 8w.Code:GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="text i915.modeset=1 i915.i915_enable_rc6=1 i915.lvds_downclock=1 i915.i915_enable_fbc=1 pcie_aspm=force"
Note that these power-saving options were disabled in newer kernels due to the risk of system instability. So far I haven't seen any problems, but don't blame me if you do

Of the kernel commands above, the only one necessary to load the card is
I presume you've tried this without success?Code:i915.modeset=1
I had no probs with R2. I did have problems with the card not being recognised when I first installed R1. This was fixed by booting into recovery mode. No idea why, but could be worth a long shot??
