BackTrack 5 / Armitage Question

I'm very new to BackTrack and pentesting. So, I apologize if I'm asking a simple question. When I start Armitage, the dialog initially says "connection refused" before the program finally starts (as shown below).

Is this common? After updating Metasploit, I found in many forums that people were having database issues. I think I've found enough information to straighten those issues out. I just wanted to make sure that I was correctly starting Armitage.
