I have an AWUS036NH as well. It works with BT5r1 KDE live cd, but I can't for the life of me get it to work with vmware or virtualbox with either BT5 nor BT4r1. I have tried the blacklisting rt2800usb and/or rt2870sta, still no luck. I have also tried the lastest update of compat-wireless drivers according to the BT5 wiki, still no go. I am running windows 7 32bit with vmworkstation 8.0.1 and virtualbox 4.1.8. If you manage to get it to work in vm or virtualbox, please do tell. I think it is a virtualization problem though. I am not giving up. Thanks.
Well that's great that its working, However has anybody tested this with "HD 64bit install". Thanks.
Working out of the box with BT5 R2 fresh hard drive install (32 bit). Injection works straight away and catches wpa handshake on 1st attempt with no issues. Picks up more APs than my AWUS036H 1mW in a rooms where others didn't see anything. Good choice. Good job guys.
But doesn't work on 5GHz band (disappointing in a supposed "N" card).
Edit: HD install BT5R2 64bit Gnome

what about the 64bit version? (gnome possibly) anyone tried it out of the box? and...what would you advice to buy: a AWUS036NH with no (let's hope just for now) N support or a AWUS036H (if it works as-is)? thanks!
Mine works great on windows 7. Only issue is on backtrack 5 r2. It is able to detect wifi connections with no problem. BUT when I try to actually connect to a connection with it I get this message "connection failed: could not contact the wireless access point" what could be causing this?
I have a similar issue with bt5r2 on virtualbox (with ubuntu host).
monitoring and injection seems to be working fine.
but if I try to connect to a network using wicd. most of the time it wont be able to find any networks on the scan
and if it does it will return an error msg for a bad password without even trying to connect ( I monitored the communication from my built in card at the host environment and no wireless data is being transfered ).
I guess this is a virtualbox issue (since everything works fine actually booting bt) but I hope some has a solution
for this problem.
i got Alfa awus036NH look cant inject packet with bt5r3 in vmware (virtual coMputer on windows 7 64)....
im tryed fern ; i have no any error message but ivs dont speed up
and tryed wifit after and got the same probleme got ivs
