When I try run cd wireless-regdb_2009.11.25-1.tar.gz I get the following error:

bash: cd: wireless-regdb_2009.11.25-1.tar.gz: Not a directory.

You can't change directory into an archive file. You need to run the command

tar -zxvf wireless-regdb_2009.11.25-1.tar.gz

This should extract the files into the directory you're are in, perhaps it creates a folder the same name, without the ".tar.gz" extension.

Thanks for the reply. I've tried that, all the other commands are working perfectly. I've ra:
'tar -zxvf wireless-regdb_2009.11.25-1.tar.gz'

Then I ran:
cd wireless-regdb_2009.11.25-1 without the .tar.gz extension and got this error:

bash: cd: wireless-regdb_2009.11.25-1: No such file or directory

Maybe it hasn't created a folder with the same name? How could I locate the folder to check? I apologize, I am a linux newbie. Even though I shouldn't be dabbling with the drivers, this cards seems pretty weak. It is picking up less AP's and the signal is MUCH weaker than my AWUS036H card, I ignorantly got this as an upgrade, but so far I don't see any improvements.

I just want to ramp up the power to get the maximum out of my new card.

Where ever you have saved that tar file and run the 'tar' command you should find the extracted files in the same directory. So for example your file is saved in the /tmp/ directory, after extracting it you can use

ls

To list the files in the current directory you are in (/tmp/ for example!). You should be able to do the rest really.
