I am actually having the exact same issue except i am running parallels.. so information would be nice!thanks all.
Hi
I'm having serious problems with my Alfa card and I've put it on the long finger for awhile but I really need it sorted now for work.
I'm running Mac OSX 10.6.8 with VMware Fusion 4.1.3 and Backtrack 5 R2 is installed under Vmware.
When I plug my alfa card in it's not even reconised as being plugged in.
Iwconfig doesn't show it up and it looks like it's not being connected at all.
I've tried a lot of suggestions on here but nothing seems to be working could anybody shed some light on this issue? Is there something wrong with running Backtrack under Vmware? Haven't had a chance to run it stand alone but possibly over the next few days I'll have time.
I REALLY need this working as Vmware and not stand alone as it causes more hassle for me and my work flow.
Thanks

Hey Lemieuxr.
here's my experience
DONT INSTALL ANY ALFA DRIVERS ON THE MAC!
that's so important! After that install the rt2800usb driver on your backtrack
Then insure Vmware or parallels is set up to automatically connect the usb device to backtrack, you'll find this under settings
I'm pretty sure my issue was installing the driver on the mac in the first place.........
Hope that helps you
