Default Perfect Install Except-1/4 screen display issue - possible AcerAspire Driver Issue

    Hi Folks,
Running an Acer Aspire 4520 (sysinfo report info) I am able to live usb boot bt5. All systems seem to function properly except the desktop display area is only 1/4 of the screen size - the entire system is functioning normally in a little box centered in the top left corner of the laptop screen. Seems this may be a display, likely driver issue, but being new to linux, i really dont know where to start troubleshooting. I think i have provided all specs via sysinfo log, and i included the xorg.conf file which is giving me the clue that this is likely a display driver issue. Please let me know if ubuntu is capable of running error free on a system with my specs, in searching for a solution i uncovered reports that acer aspire's dont run linux, ubuntu, hence bt5 either. If an install is needed, please provide as much detail as possible, i am new to linux. Thanks much in advance.

Default Re: Perfect Install Except-1/4 screen display issue - possible AcerAspire Driver Issu

It seems to me like the nv driver (default install) has issues with nVidia, as far as I know, I had to remove the nv driver, blacklist it and install the nvidia driver for my nvidia card.
Go to nvidia home page and download the proper linux driver for your card, boot, go to console, remove the nv driver, black list it and install the nvidia driver you downloded.
Restart the X's or just reboot...

    Hope it helps....

Thanks for adding a brain here maverik35, like i said i suspected a display driver issue. I found Nvidia's linux drivers for my display, but when i try to install from gnome terminal window, i get an error referencing "can not install in x server". So i tried running from BT5 startup root prompt terminal(without startx gnome) - copied .run driver file to usb boot stick, put it in a couple folders etc, usr, and a few others, since external drives and gnome desktop are unavailable from BT5 startup root prompt, and i was not sure what would be available to access. Followed Nvidia instructions for installing drivers, .run not executable from startup root prompt. I will try to upload screen shots of errors when i get a chance. To any senior members.......notice many discussions of nvidia display BT5 problems - no tutorials or concrete proven fixes????
