Backtrack 5 will not boot after install

I have recently attempted to install Backtrack 5 Gnome and KDE both on my laptop. I have a Samsung RV511 machine with Windows 7 installed and attempting a dual boot. I can boot into a live cd or usb with no problem and do whatever I want with it. I can install the OS onto my system with success and access the CLI of Backtrack 5. When I give the startx command to enter the GUI, My screen goes black and my caps lock button blinks repeatedly. I cannot power off the system unless I remove the power source and battery from the system completely. Does anyone have any knowledge on how to rectify this and the cause of my error. I have worked in and with Linux a lot and have used BackTrack in the past but never seen this before. Any ideas? Thanks

i am not master in Linux but here is my suggestion

when u log in type this command fix-splash then wait for movement after that shutdown -r now and u r pc is going to restart then type username and pass and it u can able to log in ...hope till then now u resolve problem ?

Where you trying to dual boot or triple boot? KDE, Gnome and Win7?

How did you install it and how many partitions did you make? Also where did you put your boot loader when you installed it?
