Hi Ppl / Hi Forum,
I created a LiveCD-Backtrack on my USB-Stick (1GB).
It is booting and working well.
But it is working like the BT-LiveCD, where you canNOT save your configs/changes/installed-software etc. on your USB-Stick.
I think this is because of the "compressed" version of BT on my USB-Stick.
What I need I probably somethinkg like the "uncompressed"/"REAL" version of BT on my USB.
Installing the REAL version of bt on my 1GB USB-Stick is not really working.
Because of to less space (1gb, and the real version need something like 3GB).
Is there anyway a possiblity that BT everytime save my changes and load it next time?

Whatever search you did was either poorly conceived or cursory in nature (or both). Search again...

boot from the cd
login
put usb stick in
open qtparted
resize the usb partition to 700MB ish
create a new partition in the free space and make it ext2
commit the changes
take note of this new partitions name eg sda2
close qtparted
chroot to the usb stick
cd to boot/syslinux folder folder
edit syslinux.cfg adding changes=/dev/sda2 after append
where sda2 is the name you took note of earlier
run syslinux
reboot and you are done
iv just begin a few days ago the coding process of an auto partitioner - installer for this kind of install
will give feedback on what i manage to do with that...........
could be really easy to do it in 3 clicks.......

What do you mean by that? Do you mean to add changes... to the same line that has "append" or do you mean to add it to a new line after the line that has "append".
How has anyone followed this guide? Maybe I was supposed to boot from the usb disk while running these commands. I am using the backtrack live cd in vmware.

A shell does not exist in that partition of the bt live installation unless I boot it.Code:chroot - run command or interactive shell with special root directory
How is it impossible. If I boot the live cd and I mount the usb partition after instalation, I have a bash shell in both areas with which to chroot. Not only that but if I had a hard drive install I could chroot to that as well. This is the sole purpose of the command
