Question Compaq NC6220 wireless not being seen by Bactrack 5

Compaq NC6220 wireless not being seen by Backtrack 5, works fine under Windows enviroment and i have since reseated the card inside the laptop.
I dont see it as a hardware issue.
any ideas on what may be causing this.
Also i am new to this site and i am currently learning to use backtrack.
I have fair amount of PC knowledge but still can't figure out why Backtrack 5 wont see wireless card. HELP.

    Thanks
    KimDon

Unless you start giving some output from BT and more details we can't do anything for you.

WHen i run WICD Network Manager to see if any wireless network is seen "in my house" i get message No wireless networks found.
Seems that the card is not being seen as that would explain no wireless networks being found.
I then run ettercap, then unbridged sniffing on my network to see if it see the lan and it doesnt.
    it list the following

    I tried
    ifconfig -q
    return results
etho link: ethernet hwaddr 00:14:38 and more info, but i figure this is for wired network access.

    lo link encap: local loopback
more info, thats all i get.

    eth0
and several USB connections, none of which i am using.
i am fairly new to backtrack so please with all due appologeese im sorry, dont know where to begin. but i do know how to troubleshoot if someone cn tell me what to try.

How are you running Backtrack, does your card get detected in lsusb / lspci ? if you type ifconfig -a do you see it ? have you checked the manufacturers web site see if it has Linux support ?

Type lspci and lsusb in the terminal and paste the output, also if your manufacture supports Linux, doesn't it supply a Linux driver also ?
