Help !Prob installing BT2 to hard drive

I wiped the hard disk and created 3 partitions (as the development team suggests doing) then installed backtrack2. There are no dual drives or anything. I only wish to have BT2 on this machine. However when I reboot, nothing happens, not even an error. I just have the blinking cursor on the black screen.

Can anyone help?

Yes, help can be found.

We need info first before anything can be troubleshooted.

What type of install method are you using? CD or USB? What tutorial are you using for your install. How did you burn your cd? How did you go about creating your USB install?

And when you say you installed, what does this mean? I took this as "tried" to install.... And if you did install, somethings not right and where you stand at this point, it's best to reinstall.

Give the steps you took from where you downloaded BT2 through last steps of install.

The hard-drive installation went well for me.

Whilst you do not have dual drives you may want to utilise dual operating systems and lilo will need configuration.

When you created three partitions you may not have formatted correctly or adequately. You might check by installing the CD and from X Windows navigate to qtparted which will show the status of your drive.

Qtparted will assist in formatting to ext2 or ext3 whichever you prefer and then after commitment you might try to repeat the installation.

Easy way for just BT2!
Format your whole hdd and then:
umount /mnt/hda1 <--hda1,sda1,hdc1 what ever!!
fdisk /dev/hda
command :d 1 <--you might not need this command but i use it
command: n
command: p
partition number (1-4): 1
then hit enter 2 more time
command: w
command:clear
command: mke2fs /dev/hda1
command:mkdir /mnt/backtrack
command: mount /dev/hda1 /mnt/backtrack/
now select the BackTrack Installer located in menu\Backtrack\Miscellaneous\backtrack installer
leave everything the same besides click Real (2700 mb requiered) option then install.
it takes forever to install so relax for about 20-30 min
when done click close and reboot your machine
No Lilo,one partition !
Never failed me yet.

i did all that you said baxter, and i wanted to install the live, and it took 2 seconds to install, i think something is wrong with that, thats why im posting now

Thank you all for your answers, I'll try a new installation.

Before doing it, is there any chance I can fix the problem by using a boot cd (like UltimateBoot) or by using the CD version of BT2?

To reply to Jonesers, the installation has been performed from the CD using "Offensive Security" tutorial. The CD was burnt from an ISO and is working well if I use BT2 from the CD (boot from CD). I actually "installed" (Full install of 2700 MB) and when restarting had the error described.
