r083rtCode:sudo apt-get remove --purge ettercap-gtk sudo apt-get remove --purge ettercap-common sudo apt-get install ettercap-gtk
Hi!
I hope this is the right forum...anyway here's my problem: when i try to scan for hosts with ettercap, it hangs at 100% (same if i use gtk or ncurses).
Any idea?
many thanks for your help!
r083rtCode:sudo apt-get remove --purge ettercap-gtk sudo apt-get remove --purge ettercap-common sudo apt-get install ettercap-gtk
For BT5 32bit go to: https://launchpad.net/~timothy-redae...+build/1758139
For BT5 64bit go to: https://launchpad.net/~timothy-redae...+build/1758138
Download ettercap-common* & ettercap-gtk* .deb's
Remove installed files:
Then "dpkg -i" install the new downloaded .deb's from terminal. Example (for 32bit):Code:sudo apt-get remove --purge ettercap-gtk sudo apt-get remove --purge ettercap-common
Code:dpkg -i ettercap-common_0.7.3-1.4ubuntu1drizzt1_i386.deb ettercap-gtk_0.7.3-1.4ubuntu1drizzt1_i386.deb

question have you tried the command way I recon when your using the gtk you havent select the hosts right something strange
ok do this forget all that for a second do this
take a snapshot of that terminal and post it dont worry about sslstrip or anthing else **** DONT USE etter-gtk use commandCode:ettercap -T -q -M ARP // //
close ettercap terminal by pressing 'q' dont just close the window its very important
I bet I know whats wrong your not using 'q' and the causing dos and ettercap cant scan the network becuase it down

I am running BT5 on VMWare - I had uninstall ettercap-gtk and ettercap-common.
"dpkg -i" install the ubuntu1drizzt1_i386.deb version - now i can see the ettercap,
not before.
When I do>
sudo ettercap -T -q -i wlan1
Then...nothing happenListening on wlan1... (Ethernet)
wlan1 -> 00:C0:CA:XX:XX:XX invalid invalid
Privileges dropped to UID 65534 GID 65534...

39 protocol dissectors
53 ports monitored
7587 mac vendor fingerprint
1698 tcp OS fingerprint
2183 known services
Starting Unified sniffing...
Text only Interface activated...
Hit 'h' for inline help
When I close using the 'q' key, I get
Same thing if I useiptables v1.4.4: can't initialize iptables table `nat': Permission denied (you must be root)
Perhaps iptables or your kernel needs to be upgraded.
ettercap -C --> Unified...--> scan for host
I would appreciated if I can get some help, ideas.....thanks
