    Thanks for your answer.

    The card is a Encore ENLWI-SG with a atheros chip 5212.

    The command I use is: wpa_supplicant -Dwext -iath0 -c/etc/wpa_supplicant.conf

    The wpa_supplicant.conf is:
    ctrl_interface=/var/run/wpa_supplicant
    ctrl_interface_group=0
    eapol_version=1
    ap_scan=1
    fast_reauth=1

    network={
    ssid="linksys"
    scan_ssid=1
    key_mgmt=WPA-PSK
    proto=WPA
    pairwise=TKTIP
    group=TKTIP
    psk="passphrase"
    }

    I've used ap_scan with 0, 1 and 2, all the same.

    I even install madwifi to try using madwifi driver but couldn't connect.

    I've done the tutorial like three times, but this is the only output i have
    "Trying to associate with SSID 'linksys'
    Authentication with 00:00:00:00:00:00 timed out."

    Since the beginning I suspect that 00:00:00:00:00:00 is not correct, that's why is ask here. I search in the internet for this output but I didn't found good help.

    Thanks in advance for your time.

    i've tried both netgear wg111v2 and dlink g122 but none of them work.. but they work ok in windows. i can put the contents of my wpa supplicant if you want. BTW, i'm using BT3 & BT2.

    You could try below

    go to /etc/dhcpc folder and DELETE EVERYTHING!
    Next type
    wlanconfig ath0 destroy
    wlanconfig ath0 create wlandev wifi0 wlanmode managed
    ifconfig ath0 up
    ifconfig ath0 up
    chmod 755 /etc/wpa_supplicant.conf
    wpa_supplicant -Dwext -iath0 -c/etc/wpa_supplicant.conf
    ** NEW SHELL **
    dhcpcd ath0

    It might work for you, also depends on what type of wpa encryption you have

    Let me know

    I'm having problems too. I have a Dell D630 with a 4965AGN wireless card.
    I installed the iwlwifi drivers required for the card:
    http://intellinuxwireless.org/?p=iwl...=howto-iwlwifi

    Following your tutorial, I get this after running the following command:
    Code:
    wpa_supplicant -w Dwext -iwlan0 -c/etc/wpa_supplicant.conf
    Line20: Invalid PSK 'mypassphrase'.
    Line20:failed to parse psk 'mypassphrase'.
    Line21: WPA-PSK accepted for key management, but no PSK configured.
    Line21: failed to parse network block.
    Failed to read or parse configuration '/etc/wap_supplicant.conf'.
    I have a WRT54GX using WPA TKIP.

    Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

    Who's tutorial did you follow, mine or -=Xploitz=- cos theres a few different methods of different types of wpa encryption, can you post here your full commands, need to check also what you have typed into YOUR wpa_supplicant.conf & that YOU HAVE DELETED EVERYTHING FROM /ETC/DHCPC & what you have typed BEFORE THIS>>> wpa_supplicant -w Dwext -iwlan0 -c/etc/wpa_supplicant.conf

    I followed -=Xploitz=- tutorial.
    I think i'm having a problem with my adaptor. Here's what I found:
    Code:
    bt ~ # iwconfig
    lo        no wireless extensions.

    wmaster0  no wireless extensions.

    wlan0     IEEE 802.11a  ESSID:""  Nickname:""
              Mode:Managed  Channel:0  Access Point: Not-Associated
              Tx-Power=0 dBm
              Retry min limit:7   RTS thr:off   Fragment thr=2346 B
              Encryption key:off
              Power Management:off
              Link Quality:0  Signal level:0  Noise level:0
              Rx invalid nwid:0 Rx invalid crypt:0 Rx invalid frag:0
              Tx excessive retries:0  Invalid misc:0   Missed beacon:0

    eth0      no wireless extensions.
    The wmaster0 was never there before I updated my wireless driver.
    Airodump-ng shows this:
    Code:
    bt ~ # airodump-ng wlan0
    ioctl(SIOCSIFFLAGS) failed: No such file or directory
    Wpa_supplicant.conf :
    Code:
    # See /usr/doc/wpa_supplicant-0.5.7/wpa_supplicant.conf.sample
    # for many more options that you can use in this file.

    # This line enables the use of wpa_cli which is used by rc.wireless
    # if possible (to check for successful association)
    ctrl_interface=/var/run/wpa_supplicant
    # By default, only root (group 0) may use wpa_cli
    ctrl_interface_group=0
    eapol_version=1
    ap_scan=2
    fast_reauth=1

    # WPA protected network, supply your own ESSID and WPAPSK here:
    network={
      ssid="Linksys1"
      proto=WPA
      key_mgmt=WPA-PSK
      pairwise=TKIP
      group=TKIP
      psk=mypassphrase
    }

    # Plaintext connection (no WPA, no IEEE 802.1X),
    # nice for hotel/airport types of WiFi network.
    # You'll need a recent version of wireless-tools for this!
    network={
      ssid="any"
      key_mgmt=NONE
      priority=2
    }
    /etc/dhcpcd is empty. Let me know if you have any suggestions. Thanks!

    In the first post -=Xploitz=- runs it to show his networks:

    In airodump-ng my network shows up as......

    BSSID ........................PWR.........RXQ......Beaco ns...#Data,.....#/s...CH..MB...ENC...... CIPHER...AUTH........ESSID
    00:18:F8:B5:F2: D6....61...........100......1276........1239. ........0......6....48. WPA....... TKIP......PSK.........Xploitz Network

    I was just trying to see if I could see anything, but I get the error.
