This problem can be caused by a faulty install to the HDD
What method did you use.
Hiya, i have installed Backtrack 2 from the Live CD to my HDD and after logging in and running xconf then startx
i get this error
"xauth: /lib/tls/libc.so.6: version 'GLIBC_2.4' not found (required by xauth)"
any ideas on where i go from here?

i used the installer in the KDE menu under system backtrack installer i didnt put anything in the top field selected /mnt/hda3 (2nd patition i think mabey a swap partition in there somewhere) in the second and /dev/hda in the third and then pressed install and all seemed okay
I would follow this video, it is for dual boot but you can easily adapt it if you only need it for BT2

Oh and you did check your md5 before burning very slowly didn't you

Okay been told off now (not obeying the basics) i have now md5 checked the iso and its good so going to burn it again but this time slooww...
All working now that i used the manual method of install, thanks balding_parrot. although there are some discrepancies in the movie somewhere in there he types cp /boot/boot/vmlinuz but all good now.
