No ssh2 on Hydra - What about Bt4final?

Hi forum,

just tried a SSHv2 brute force on a test machine using Hydra on BT4 pre.

# hydra -l root -P /home/user/dict 169.254.1.2 ssh2
Error: Compiled without LIBSSH support, module not available!

that sounds very ugly! Since today I have no time to download and install BT4 final, can someone of you confirm that?

Yes, it works. Just tested. Here is the output:

Obviously it gave an error since my gateway doesn't use ssh. I guess that's the source of the error.

hydra was quite buggy in the prefinal:

Obviously XHydra works in backtrack 4 final,however, is the options_new error related to the gateway not using SSH or is it something else? I attempted to use hydra against de-ice pentesting discs, it worked in Backtrack 3 but this is a new error to me. Ideas anyone?

Hey, I just installed BT 4 Final and am getting the same options_new error when I try to run hydra against ssh2. I ran apt-get upgrade and update but nothing was returned so hydra wasn't fixed. Do I need to add or change my repositories?

Sorry to reopen an old thread.

The apt-get update and apt-get upgrade fixed the problem with hydra, but it deleted "openvas-nvt-sync". Is this supposed to happen (IE: does apt take over in updating the openvas plugins?).

Edit: apt-get install openvas-menu fixes this.
