I am running BT5 GNOME 64 bit and we have to install nessus 5.0 for class and i have successfully installed nessus but it asks for flashplugin of 10.2 or better. i have used FLASH AID, ran all the above commands and it says completed successfully. but the plugin is not there...... ive restarted firefox probably 30 times and keep trying the same thing over and over again with no luck. what am i doing wrong?

I've used Flash Aid successfully, there are 2 or 3 issues that have to be overcome before it will install flash properly.
Did mine a while ago so can't reproduce it, but look in the terminal window that pops up when downloading and installing flash.
Look for errors about file or folder not existing, I think from memory that there is 1 you have to create in /usr/..... and 1 in /root/.mozilla
Just create the folder structure it complains is missing and re run flash aid, (you have to restart firefox everytime before you can run it again).

    Hope this helps

hey davehardy20, I used flash aid as well and your right. you have to create the missing folder it ask for when you first run it. Then the second time you run it it seems to work. I got it to work both times i use it when i install first 64bit then back to 32bit RC2. One thing i notice for me was, it didn't work when i tried to use the stable version. but it worked when i tried using the beta. How about you?

I have Backtrack on usb key and I have a problem to install flash player :

First I follow these instruction from http://www.backtrack-linux.org/wiki/index.php/Install_Flash_Player

    root@bt:~# apt-get purge flashplugin-nonfree flashplugin-installer gnash gnash-common mozilla-plugin-gnash swfdec-mozilla
    root@bt:~# rm -f /usr/lib/firefox/plugins/*flash*
    root@bt:~# rm -f /usr/lib/firefox-addons/plugins/*flash*
    root@bt:~# rm -f /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/*flash*
    root@bt:~# rm -f ~/.mozilla/plugins/*flash*so
    root@bt:~# rm -rfd /usr/lib/nspluginwrapper

    then :

    root@bt:~# mkdir -p ~/.mozilla/plugins
    root@bt:~# mkdir flash
    root@bt:~# mv -f install_flash_player_11_linux.i386.tar.gz flash/
    root@bt:~# cd flash/
    root@bt:~/flash# tar xvfz install_flash_player_11_linux.i386.tar.gz
    root@bt:~/flash# cp -f libflashplayer.so ~/.mozilla/plugins/

In the command line there was no error.

I verify on Youtube, and it doesnt work, i try to find where is the mozilla plugin folder without result,
I follow one command I find here :

    mv -f libflashplayer.so ~/.mozilla/plugins/
mv: cannot stat `libflashplayer.so': No such file or directory

I tried to work with "wget" without any success.

    Thanks for any help !

Hey guys, I'm a BT n00b, but I tweaked the script and it works charms for 64-bit (BT5)

    wget samiux.volospin.com/flash/install_flash_player_10_linux.tar.gz
    tar xvfz install_flash_player_10_linux.tar.gz
    mkdir ~/.mozilla/plugins
    mv -f libflashplayer.so ~/.mozilla/plugins/

    Happy Hacking
