    Default Dell N5010 BT 5 R1 Wifi doesn't work

    Hello. Today I installed BackTrack 5 R1 KDE x86 from a DVD and found out that the wifi isn't working (It doesn't find any wireless networks in wicd, iwconfig doesn't have any results,). After, that I burnt the GNOME version on a DVD-RW and had the same problem. I had this issue before when I tried to install Pardus 2011.1, but after I followed the Broadcom wireless wiki page (my notebook has Broadcom bcm4313 aka dell-wifi) from Archlinux, it kinda work (It stopped working I was trying to reset the wifi trough Fn+F2). I tried to use the same method, but the wl module isn't preinstalled and I read that injection works only with brcm80211). On Backtrack 5 gnome the wifi worked well. If I try rfkill list, the wifi isn't soft locked or hard locked. I tried 2 tutorials, one from ubuntu forums in which you had to get linux-next repo trough git, edit something, build brcm80211.ko file (but there stopped my testing, the file didn't compile), and another one.

    If you have any ideeas, please tell them!

    I'm having the same problem with my Asus eee netbook. It looks like the brcm80211 module is not installed with the 2.6.39.4 kernel in BT5r1. You can try 'apt-get install linux-image-2.6.38' and booting to that kernel, this provides the brcm80211 module and was the default kernel for BT5. I'm going to attempt this myself this week, maybe even see if the module can be loaded in the newer kernel. I don't use the built in wireless for injection, it's range sucks, I have a alfa usb adapter for that. I just want it to work.

    Please let me know if you find a solution. I am working with similar hardware and problems.

    I'm having the same problem (Asus EEE PC 1015PEM, BT5 R1 32-bit Gnome, BCM4313); no wireless interface shows up in ifconfig or iwconfig. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    @danimihalca: Romania?
    How did you install it?
    I have a Dell Inspiron N7110 and I tried to install x64 kde, but it doesn't even boot. Here's what happens, and the processor is getting extremely hot:
