Router Password without Login

Hey guys, just messing around with backtrack, very new to pen testing, have had some fun with an old DSL router i have cracking the wep/wpa but I wanted to hack the router's password (I know it but I want to see how hard it is to crack), it's a 2wire DSL router from AT&T and it doesn't require a user name just a password. I tried using medusa but it said I needed to provide a User name/list I was wondering if there was a way to brute force or use a list to attack just a password (not a user/password) protected router.

just download the small password list from the repo's and add your password in at the end. If you enjoy messing around with passwords. you might be interested in getting crunch from the repo's as well its a wonderful password list creator, and it was written by a member of this community. I hate working with strings so crunch does all of that for you. have fun.

I believe the OP is requesting info on not having to input any login info, only
password info.
Could you use hydra by specifying the login as being nothing like below ? ;

hydra 192.168.1.1 -l "" -P /wordlists/ap_password.txt -t 3 -e ns -f -V http-get /index.asp

(The above is based on an old Asus router, so you would have to see what module works
for your router)

Also, always worth looking for exploits for devices also... for instance, with the 2wires, there is this issue, which may get you in without the need to bruteforce... I know it may not be what you're looking for as far as practice goes, but I feel it's relevant
