    Default Connecting Bluetooth to Backtrack

    Hey guys, I'm desperate here!

    I'm running Backtrack on VirtualBox on my MacBook. I'm trying to use my Bluetooth on Backtrack and couldn't get the built in device to be recognized, so I purchased a USB dongle to use instead. However, even now I try to activate via the menu:

    Devices > USB Devices > Bluetooth USB Host Controller

    and I get this error:

    Result Code:
    NS_ERROR_FAILURE (0x80004005)
    Component:
    HostUSBDevice
    Interface:
    IHostUSBDevice {173b4b44-d268-4334-a00d-b6521c9a740a}
    Callee:
    IConsole {515e8e8d-f932-4d8e-9f32-79a52aead882}

    And every time I try using
    Code:
    hciconfig hci0 up
    I just get the message "Can't get device info: No such device"

    I've tried everything, I need this to work!! Any ideas? Thanks in advance for all your help!

    Default Respuesta: Connecting Bluetooth to Backtrack

    I'm kinda in the same boat, but with different symptoms.

    I'm using the built-in bluetooth (on my macbook pro) which works fine using Parallels and Windows7.

    • hciconfig shows the device

    • hcitool scan works

    •*hcitool cc doesn't work; never has. It used to give an error (either timeout or inout/output), but now it just exits with no result.

    •*hidd --search acts weird. If there is no discoverable device it gives an error, but if there is a discoverable device it exits with no result.

    •*hidd --connect exits with no result now, but it DID attempt connecting ONCE. My phone asked for a passkey which I didn't know. grr. Anyway, it only happened once and since then something obviously broke and I can't figure out how to reset it.

    •*There is no bluetooth daemon script in the bluetooth package. Sucks...

    I think we're pretty much hosed if we continue to use bt5. bt4 R1 was a hell of a lot more polished.

    It's not a Backtrack 5 BUG that there is no bluetooth daemon: http://blog.projectnibble.org/2010/0...rt-came-to-be/
    Back|track giving machine guns to monkeys since 2007 !

    so,sickness, there's not way (at the moment) to use bluetooth without "downgrading" the entire bluetooth system?
