    Default BT5 R1 changelog (non official)

    Well I was searching for the changelog for the BT5 R1 to see what had been added/removed and bugs fixed, but i couldn't find it.
    So what i did was create 2 new virtual machines one with BT5 KDE 32bits and the other with BT5 R1 KDE 32bits and did this in both machines:

    BT5
    Code:
    dpkg --list > bt5.txt
    BT5 R1
    Code:
    dpkg --list > bt5r1.txt
    Ok know that i had all packages in the txt files just had to copy the file to the same machine and compare:

    Code:
    diff -y -w -B --supress-common-lines bt5.txt bt5r1.txt
    And there you have it (list of pakages), your custom changelog
    It doesn't show the bug fixes but at least you have the list of packages.

    Cheers

    By the way here is a script to fully update BT5 KDE 32bits:

    Code:
    #!/usr/bin/python
    # Script to fully upgrade Backtrack 5 to Backtrack 5 R1
    import os

    print('apt-get update && apt-get dist-upgrade -y')

    os.system('cd /tmp && wget http://pastebin.com/download.php?i=agB5Dh0D')
    packageslist = open('/tmp/download.php?i=agB5Dh0D')
    lines = packageslist.readlines()

    for packages in lines:
      packages = packages[4:40]
      #remove the + ' -y' if you which to choose the packages to install
      os.system('apt-get install ' + packages + ' -y')

    packageslist.close()
    #comment above if you don't want to clean Backtrack
    os.system('apt-get autoremove -y && apt-get autoclean -y')
    Hope you enjoy
    Cheers

    michelionk "forgot" to say that that is for KDE 32bits because thats a post in consequent of the first one were i mention the package list for KDE 32bits.

    If someone has Gnome and want to help the others can you please dump all the original packages (dpkg --list > gnomeVersion.txt) and send me the link please.
    That way I can make the script work for both (KDE/Gnome).
    Thanks.

    Ok now it supports both Gnome/KDE 32bits

    Code:
    wget http://bl4ck5w4n.tk/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/bt5migrate.tar
    tar -xvf bt5migrate.tar
    cd bt5migrate
    python bt5migrate.py
    Once executed you will be asked between KDE or Gnome just choose the one you use and that's it.

    New update: With this new update you can remove the old kernel and old entrys in Grub, updates the symlinks and asks if you want to reboot after all the process.
