recordmydesktop is included in BT4 it is in the main menu.
It will record the screen and save it. That's really about all it will do. So for video processing you will need something else.
There are plenty of pages on google with info and choices.

There are soo many ways in killing a cat "not netcat" this is what i do

    1) Enable VNC server on my backtrack, create a username and passwd
    2) Get another PC running windows, install camtasia studio and a vnc client software
    3) VNC to the linux box, using the windowss box
    4) Start the camtasia and start recordind the screen.

    ANOTHER WAY

    1) Using vmware
    2) After creating your vm. goto-------->edit virtual maching
    3) Goto the Options TAB, the select remote display and check enable
    4) After enabling it you can now vnc from your host PC
note://* you must install VNC client on the host pc
    * camtasia studio
    * make sure your virtual pc's network card is set to bridge
    5) Start the camtasia and start recordind the screen.

    hope this helps.

This is the answer i was after! :-D i saw a thread on about this on the ubuntu forums so it got to be good.

Although i wasn't able to find it in the menu, or when i ran a find through my system (I ended up install it from the repository,)

    Many Thanks for your suggestions!

    Cheers,

Why all the riddles with VNC, remote Camtasia and stuff? Just use recordmydesktop, then export it via mencoder or a windows encoder.
