I'm having the same problem as mohab1220. I bought this card because I thought it would work otb with bt5, but I geuss not...

I found the solution for this problem
go to the driver directory
/RTL8192CU/
then
driver
then
rtl8192_8188CU_linux_v3.0.2164.20110715
and
include/

in this folder create new folder name it
linux

and try to find file called
smp_lock.h
look for it in some where
mine I found it on
/usr/src/linux-headers-2.6.38/include/linux/
copy
smp_lock.h
and paste it in the new folder linux

and try


that's worked with me
still monitoring mode is not supported
but at least you are able to connect to the internet using alfa


any idea how to make injection work

Hi, im new in here. Own a awus036NHR and made it possible working in monitor mode based on this thread:

however when i'm trying to connect to any connection either WEP or WPA, it seems keep on giving me bad password.
plus, did u notice the tx-power is 20dbm. did anyone of u try to increase it? 2000mw is supposed to be 33dbm.

Try the below, its working with Bt5 R2 as well, but the issue is airodump not showing assosiated clients.

I just posted on the other thread. For me worked OOTB (out of the box) with BT 5 R2 (KDE 64 bit) running in a Parallels VM on top a Mac OS X10.7.3

I have seen that most of the problems have been reportes in the Gnome distro. Im still downloading the Gnome 32 bit to confirm In the mean time try with the KDE 64.

Hey guys whats up. Im having a huge problem with my ALFA awus036nhr. Im from jamaica (where hacking a network key is totally legal). Im using BT5 which is not installed on my pc i use the boot CD method to boot BT5 but when i open a shell to start hacking(airmon-ng etc...) im getting errors. Could u please let me know if there is another version of Back Track which is compatible with the awus36nhr or would i have to purchase a new alfa adapter......Thanks is advance for any assistance......
