i didnt got the awus036nhr working in backtrack 5 r1 but in ubuntu 11.04.
as you can see on the alfa website: ALFA NETWORK: Alfa AWUS036NHR / BackTrack5 Installation Guide
linux is supported but you cant get the card in monitor mode with the delivered drivers.
you need urtwn drivers to get the card in monitor mode.
anyone has an idea how to do this?
I got it running with the latest compat-wireless drivers. The only issue I'm now having is that airodump-ng is not showing associated clients...
@Shrap could you describe how to get it running with compat-wireless. i already installed the delivered drivers is this a problem?
or is there an howto already on the internet. do i have to apply the changes described earlier in this thread?
does anyone know yet how to install this card with injection working?
works fine using Beini but i want to use it with backtrack.....
How did you manage to have it working under BT5R1? I tried... but it would simply ignore the plugged device..
Any hint?
it is not working I tried ti install the driver on genome and kde but both failed
I got two errors

I tried to prepare kernel header but I got the same errorHTML Code:4. If you receive a makefile error about “no rule to make target modules”, you may need to prepare kernel headers. As root, at the command line run these commands (you will need to have Internet access on the computer already): prepare-kernel-sources cd /usr/src/linux cp -rf include/generated/* include/linux/
please help me I am going to be crazy after awhile![]()
I'm having the same problem as mohab1220. I bought this card because I thought it would work otb with bt5, but I geuss not...
Try the last compat-wireless driver, i managed to get it work with it in monitor mode, but i had problems do connect on secured station (wpa2/wpa) it gives me every time bad password, and i don't know how to resolve it!
and the driver don't work probperly, it doesn't show connected client on airodump and there are other problems!
go here and take a look
http://www.aircrack-ng.org/doku.php?id=compat-wireless and

ps. kernel headers must be installed to get it work and u need to select rtl8192cu as driver!
good luck
@Shrap: and u can connect to secured Ap?!
