    Default Errors installing Nessus 2.2.10

After several tries at installing this bugger and following the guide here>>>

    http://backtrack.offensive-security....Install_Nessus

    I get the following errors:
Also please note that on the Nessus site their is an updated version from 2.2.9 to 2.2.10 and the tutorial calls for 2.2.9..I also followed the instructions for installing the source from the site, and I get the same errors.

Also please not I added /usr/local/bin and /usr/local/sbin that was called for in my nano /etc/ld.conf ...just noticed...should the above be /user/local/bin and /user/local/sbin instead?? I bet this is my problem..lol will post results..BTW any other suggestions while Im trying this out would be nice.

***EDIT*** The nessus.org site says to If you are using Linux, then make sure that /usr/local/lib is in /etc/ld.so.conf,
them and the tutorial on our wiki are conflicting methods using /usr and /user..........

    OK...heres my follow up....

I don't know what in the hell is up with version 2.2.10 of nessus..but I've had nothing but PURE HELL with installing the damn little beastie..lol..no, I didn't say purehate (But he did go above and beyond the call of duty trying to help me install it) Thanks purehate for your patience with me.

It seems that I had to uninstall nessus v 2.2.10 and Google up the old version of nessus 2.2.9 and install it following this guide STRICTLY!!>>>>>

    http://backtrack.offensive-security....Install_Nessus

and I had absolutely NO PROBLEMS at all. Thanks everyone anyways, but for some reason v 2.2.10 doesn't want to "act right" with BT2 Final.

Here are the links for nessus v 2.2.9 just in case anyone else is having a hard time installing the new version...might save you guys a headache.

    and what ?

    can't you do a simple

    lzm2dir xxxxxx.lzm /

the trailing slash indicates to extract to /

all you have to do......is to extract it on / on your hd install

like for each lzm module you want to install........

I am sure that I must be missing the point except to prove you can do it, but why do you want to install an old version ?

Why did you have trouble finding those versions when they are available straight from the nessus website ?

If 2.10 doesnt work a old version is better than NO version. Nessus has been a godsend in my personal pen testing. It is a must to help choose the proper exploit. not the only tool but a good one. The way I understand it is it would have been on backtrack but there was a licenseing issue. Im glad you got it going xploitz. Pm me with your results.

I installed the old version because the new 2.2.10 gave me so many freaking install errors...and call me an idiot..but I don't see a serch or archive on the nessus site so I could d/l the old 2.2.9..where the heck you see those old files at on that site? I guess Im blind.

I owe you an apology it is not there anymore.

It was a few weeks ago when I got fed up of having to fill that form in just to download another file I found that i needed for the installs, so I downloaded everything all distros all versions just in case I needed them

I guess now that 3.0.6 is out they took that one being the oldest off the site.

    SORRY
