if you care to show me links to ANY mini-pci express cards in the wiki or the threads i'll take it back. only thing i find is the card i already own, and even then its just people whining about how it doesnt work.

It's probably because pci express is fairly new in laptops. There's not a whole lot of support for it yet.

I've got a couple of a/b/g cards. I don't think I've ever really needed the "a" part. I did setup an adhoc network using "a" one time, but I really didn't see that much of a speed increase. It might have been a driver limitation, though.

"A" is pretty short ranged and for general usage and pentesting, I doubt you'll ever need it. I'm waiting for "n" to become standardized before upgrading anymore of my cards. Ought to see some funny posts here, then.

    Good Luck

That's a pretty good reason. It's a shame the card isn't A. All my other atheros cards are and it's the newest one of the lot. Still, it's not a feature I've used much.

model: ThinkPad 11a/b/g Wireless LAN Mini Express Adapter
chipset: Atheros AR5006EX (As printed on card AR5BXB6)
    part number: 40Y7026
    standards: a/b/g
opinion: damn nice card. since I put it in a dell it was a pain to find generic drivers for windows. BT2 works right out the box with all features.
