live cd don't work help please

HELP i have made a live cd of bt4r2, apon starting i get the boot menu but witch ever option i try i get a blank black screen and nothing else.
I have try'd, different disks and burning software, booting by usb and redownloading the iso incase it was corrupt, but keep getting the same problem.
But the disks do work on other machines buy apparentley not this one
(a hp pavilion dv6 running win 7 home).
Im all out of ideas please help.

Do you get a blank screen upon booting or upon trying to enter KDE? If the disks are working on other machines that would tell me the problem isn't the disks but the computer. Try googling around to see if anyone else has had this issue. Also, post what hardware your laptop is running and exactly what you are doing during the boot process.

Well i don't know much about your problem

Well what i do know is DVD boot is really slow problems with persistence mode

Weird problem, have you tried another bootable media and boot the computer?

the problem happens when i get to the backtrack boot menu and select anything but memory test (witch works) any other option and the screen goes black.
I think this has some thing to do the kernal not being supported by my pc, because i have got BT4R2 to sart by editing the boot code with "noapic acpi=off",
but a lot of things dont work properly, includeing not not being able to find my wireless card. would getting the firmware updated help?

Have you tried another kernel ? a newer one ? I reported the bug but it's not universal, you should try and see if Ubuntu 10.10 works on your laptop with ACPI, if it does it's a kernel issue and you should wait till Backtrack 5 is it doesn't then it might be that your hardware is too old or you may need to upgrade your BIOS.

Just tryd Ubuntu 10.10 and it works fine with acpi so it must be a kernal problem.
I have got backtrack 4r2 running on virtual box for now, so i'll wait till backtrack 5 is releaced and try that.

Any idea when that will be?

Backtrack 5 will be released when it is ready, hang to your VirtualBox for now.

You can inject with the built in ipw2200, it takes any usb you choose, you can do a hard drive install and it will run faster and less burdened than your virtual or live cd install.
I had the lid closed and the laptop survived a 3 and 4 foot drop, also my mother sat on it once, and someone threw a football at it.
PS mods that link is not for my laptop, i'd never sell my IBM!!!!
