Sounds like a bad ISO. You might want to try downloading it again, without any download managers, and re-writing it.
A third party security audit is the IT equivalent of a colonoscopy. It's long, intrusive, very uncomfortable, and when it's done, you'll have seen things you really didn't want to see, and you'll never forget that you've had one.

Did you check the backtrack wiki to see if your machine was on the commpatability list?

There's your problem. The calculated md5 checksum didn't match.

This may occur if you downloaded the ISO using a download manager vice straight from HTTP. Also, an error could have occured during the burning process. It is advisable to burn the ISO at a slow rate (i.e., 4x).

ok have got my 1 gig usb drive (eventually) lol
used the program suggested and it seems to have worked
only i cant test it because my computer does not seem to want to recognize it as a devise on startup!
excuse me while i kill myself through frustraion!
i have changed the boot order to start looking for removable first then cd then hd last
no result so i used the boot loader that comes with my bios and selected removable and
    yes you guessed it
    no device found
    help
