got a 6970 a couple weeks back.. decided to upgrade to backtrack 5 kde 64 bit

what I found with ATI is it uses quite a bit of the card just to display.. so I started a ssh server and let the screen go into power save.. it's basically the same deal with bitcoin mining

the difference speaks for itself.. in case any of you were having this issue, you can try running it through ssh, or let the screen shutdown early

I used to run nvidia, and it didn't have this issue.. but was hell of slow in comparison =] I could go a lot faster if I flashed in the clocks- this is stock @920.. it runs 954 stock voltage mining coins (422 mhash/s) so guessing well over 100k
