    Default No result with airmon-ng

To start off I am new to backtrack. I am using backtrack 5 32bit hdd install. The problem I am running into is that when I type the airmon-ng command I don't get any results. As I am a beginner I am not looking for a quick answer but more of a point in the right direction to find it. Since I would like to learn why this problem is occurring. I have searched google and different wiki's but can't find an answer. I listed my output below.

    root@bt:~# airmon-ng

    Interface Chipset Driver

I didn't have a problem with this in ubuntu just after i installed backtrack. I do get an output with iwconfig and my wifi card works to get online.

    root@bt:~# iwconfig
    lo no wireless extensions.

    eth0 no wireless extensions.

Uninstall the aircrack-ng suite (airmon-ng is included in this) with this command:
    Code:
     apt-get autoremove aircrack-ng
Then download the sources from the aircrack-ng website here:
    http://www.aircrack-ng.org/
Extract the .tar file with this command:
    Code:
     tar -xf aircrack-ng-1.1.tar.gz
You will need to update some of the SSL-dev files so run this before building from source:
    Code:
     apt-get install libssl-dev
Enter the directory that was just extracted and then run:
    Code:
     make
    make install
Reboot and everything should be good to go now.

I have exactly the same problem. Also, after entering airmon-ng i can't do anything anymore. Not even exit with the 'exit' command, when i click the x button it says that there is still a process running...

So i tried the solution presented by Reamer, but i encounter a problem when i do the 'make' and 'make install' command, i get a lot of errors. Don't understand most of it, since i'm a total newb. But there is one thing: it says FILE_OFFSET_BITS=64. And i have 32-bit system if that has something to do with that. Here's the complete output just in case:

There's your problem. Enter the command:
    Code:
     apt-get install libssl-dev
That will install the packages you need to run the make command.
