Normally the homepage for the linux distro is generally going to have a working download site. I would try unbuntu as my friend BP suggested.

After you get it going search the unbuntu forums for all your questions. Unbuntu is a linux distro that has a huge support network. it is very easy to use and makes the transition from windows to linux much easier. If in a year or so you feel inclined to learn some security and pentesting then maybe you can come back to us here at the remote exploit forums. Home of "Backtrack". I installed Ubuntu and have been playing around with it, its pretty cool. I have to get used to it however its somewhat like windows I took me an hour or so to get my wireless printer installed and working, but hey I got it working

All I get is 640x480 even after running xconf.
I am using an older i810 video chipset and have no prob with
other distros.. ie PC Linux 2007 & Vector Linux SOHO all work
fine in 1024x768..
