I am having the exact same problem.
using unetbootin-win-549 on Dell Latitude D630 laptop running WIN7 Ultimate 32 bit.
target e:drive 16gig USB formatted fat32
BT5-gnome-32.iso
extracting and copying files
casper\filesystem.squashfs
extracted 9 of 23 files 39% complete
after long time of being hung at 39% complete, unetbootin apparently times out, jumps to complete and DONE!
A reboot to the USB yields only a black screen and words "BOOT ERRROR"
Ideas?
