Issue is, I boot off the live CD, i get 1366x768 Resolution... *good* everything works...
Install to HDD, startx..... 1024x768 *WTF?* seriously? all muffed up....
Now before anyone asks, YES i've tried installing drivers, at which point i get "no screen found"
also tried editing my xorg.conf .. does nothing...
System:
Dell Inspiron R15
NVIDIA GeForce GT 525M - 1GB (For QUAD Core CPU)
2nd generation Intel® Core™ i7-2630QM Processor(2.0GHz base, up to 2.9GHz,Qual Core,8T,6MB L3)
try to upgrade your video-card drivers from manufacturer website, it's worked for me
I have exactly the same problem and have tried the same things and got the same results but my hardware is as follow:
Dell Vostro 3350 with i5-2410M 2.3GHz Sandy Bridge
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
I too was having issues with my display resolution. i5-2410M / Intel HD3000
Booting off a CD, defaulted to 1366x768.
After installation and booting off my hard drive, I would only get 1024x768 max.
Multiple days into this issue, I finally removed nomodeset from my boot entry. Now all I get is 1366x768.
I added it back, and once again it would max out at 1024x768
One noticeable difference (other than the resolution) is that without the entry, lshw -C video shows driver=i915. With the entry, there is no driver listed.
Hopefully this helps.
