I am having the same problem, except I'm using Live DVDs. I've tried KDE 64 twice, GNOME 64 twice, and KDE 32 once; all with fresh downloads. They all get to 99% then give me the (Errno 5) I/O Error saying my drive or disk is messed up. I checked my md5sum on each and they all matched. I only downloaded from backtrack-linux.org. I also checked through the FAQs but didn't see anything relevant there. Does anyone have another suggestion?
I had the same problems....did some research...ran the following commands:
that did the trick...try thatCode:apt-get update apt-get dist-upgrade
