Hi everybody! I'm what you'd call a long-time listener, first-time caller, as I've been using Backtrack sparsely for about 1+ years now, and I've finally found a computer to give it an HD install on. So, I thought I'd join the forums. I have a lot to learn, but I'm eager, dedicated, and can use Google (WOW!).

FWIW, I'm pretty well-versed in Linux, having, over the past two years, bounced from Ubuntu -> Arch -> Gentoo -> Fedora -> Arch -> openSUSE -> Debian. Yeah, I distro hop majorly.

Look forward to getting to know you all!

Thumbs up Re: Official hello thread

Hello and Howdee to all -

I have over 15 years experience on IBM mainframes, but on Linux I'm a dewy-pink newbie.

I installed Ubuntu 9.10 (Karmic) a week ago on an old Dell Optima (and instantly ran into that XSERV Freeze bug #456902), so I am learning my way around the command line as fast as I can, playing with BASH and Ruby, and am trying to stretch my mind around this whole object oriented programming thing. That's a lot of culture-shock for an old COBOL duffer like me... ;~))

I just downloaded the ISO for BackTrack v4 Final, and am about to burn it to a DVD - or maybe I'll install the live version on a USB key. Still learning what all my options are, just hobby-horsing and having fun.

I'll do my best not to be a posterior pain for Y'all.
