Backtrack with persistence USB allocation query

I have installed the above and was wondering the folowing as i have no disk space left without reallly doing anything.

1 - Does BT boot from the first partition which is 2.5G ?
2 - What files are loaded on partition two which is 5.5G in my case ?
3 - When installing or updating BT were do the files write to, partition 1 or 2 ?

Partition 2 is totally full and i guess i'm wondering if i can safely delete any files to free up space.
I know this may be a basic question to experienced user's but any guidance is welcome.

16GB is the recommended minimum thumb drive size for BT5 persistence.

OK fair enough. any chance you could explain the questions i asked which in know relate to BT4 but could as easily apply to BT5.

Yes, I could attempt to explain, but by doing so would deprive you a perfect opportunity to learn. I'd suggest exploring the partitions and having a look around (hint, where you find Grub is where your boot partition is). Experiment with diff tools and determine where files get changed/installed/updated, self-learning is quite gratifying. Have fun!
