    Default Comp fried need help

    Hi im a noob my windows got messed up and i remberd i had a backtrack 2 cd fired it up im a noob i need to know how to copy files frome my computer hard drive to my back up usb hard drive plz some one help...

    if it does work then i guess all you need to do now is.
    cp /mnt/win/YOURFILE /dev/sda1
    again this is just another guess. i have no way of telling without testing it. i dont have windows at the moment so i cant.

    If your Windows got "messed up", copying the files isn't likely to save anything. What do you mean by "messed up"? Can you boot into Windows? Do you get errors? What are those errors?

    I think he wants to transfer his music, vids, files so he can format... Sounds as its a windows issue, ad he's just saving the important stuff with a live cd, which happens to be BT.

    Boot BackTrack, load up Konqueror. You should be able to access your Windows partition from there.

    I searched with knoppix because I know lots has been written about using knoppix for this purpose. You should be able to use BT the same way.

    I've recovered data off of several windows boxes that wouldn't boot using various livecds. I wish you success. Next time, remember, a little backup goes a long ways.

    i know how to see the hard drives i just cant make folders trasper files it gives me some mount error
