I am having the same problem... by the look of thing you need to have an external/USB wireless card in order for compatibility with BT5. Further research suggests the netgear wg111, which you can buy on eBay for £3 UK second-hand.

How can I be sure that BackTrack 5 is compatibe with my laptop wireless card installed in?
I can't identificate which chipset is in my laptop. It is HP ProBook 4510s series, I think this one;

And do I need to reinstall Windows, or just boot from CD to run BackTrack?
