Windows wont boot after BT boot

hi all,

first the good part: yesterday i installed backtrack on my usb stick. booted it, played around using firefox and irc, looked really nice and was very fast.
now the bad part: after i rebooted from bt and tried booting windows xp pro sp2, it didnt work. everytime windows tries to boot, it reboots (cold reboot). i tried windows repair (fixboot, fixmbr, bootcfg /rebuild) all without luck. any idea what could be wrong? the only read/write process on my hdd in bt was bkhive/samdump2 and output piped to my other usb device.

im appreciate for ANY idea

but we need it.....for games...and such things like sound creation....

sounds like mbr pbs.....lets try this
i assume it's ur last solution, and that you HAVE try others solution....


Put in windows cd....reboot
boot on the cd... let install begin....
when asked choose the CURRENT WINDOWS INSTALL AND SELECT TO LEAVE FS LIKE IT IS
wait for install begin to copy files onto your hd ...and EJECT CD ..... F3.....F3...

this procedure save my window$ 3 times ....

just to get it right: the idea is, to create a new clean mbr by "installing" windows (first part of the install routine)?

correct. winblows will over write the mbr with its boot program

yes in a way...

when installing windows....copy of mbr occured just before of beginning copy files...i always do this at 1 or 2 %of the copying process, i eject cd and hit f3 2 times for reboot.....i need to do this because i hav't any access to recovery console and i lost my hiren's boot cd.....so it saved my life....

hm, will need good timing, can you give me some more hints about the right moment? when i have to remove the cd? (im afraid i could damage more if i remove it too late)
