Hello all,
I've decided to go for ATI Radeon 5870 graphics card
coz of its great reviews everywhere.
Which motherboard-cpu combination will give me
optimum performance and how much RAM do u recommend?
Please help

Only if you could spend 10k on such a system i will recommend you go and buy it.
Get yourself a nice nehalem family cpu (quad core) and latest and greatest nvidia gpu.
Scientia ac Labore
iliyapolak, are you sure that I should go with nvidia card??
After doing some research I came to know that Radeon 5870
(thanks to CAL++) gets around 80,000 PMKs/sec at much
cheaper rate than other expensive nvidia cards...what say?

I seem to recall Purehate advising that the nVidia cards had more consistent results compared with the ATI cards dropping some..
But you would have to do an in-depth search of the forums here to see if you can find more posts on the subject.
Not to mention that the mid to upper end Nvidia gaming cards are CUDA enabled which is a really nice option to have as CUDA allows the gpu to be utilized to crunch massive numbers when not being utilized for high end graphics. From my limited understanding of CUDA, this equates to a much faster pentest result. My gpu just missed the bar, so I don't get to see it in action first hand, but you can do some reading on Wikipedia for CUDA to see what I mean.
