    Default No framebuffer splashscreen at startup

    hi all. i downloaded bt 5 kde 32bit iso. md5 checksum match with hash calculator. burn at lowest speed on two dvds with ashampoo and imgburn. problem is when i start booting there is no framebuffer splashscreen like on my bt4. it shows one line sentence and root. when i type in startx it gives an error message about the a server. what am i doing wrong?

    You should spin your keyboard 3 times counterclockwise before the startx.

    Or give us some more details on the error message.

    that means i will have to install vmware, install backtrack on it just to copy the long error message, or otherwise write it down

    Just press ENTER. Don't type anything.

    No it does not.

    In order to get help and find your way around in Linux you should at first learn to extract the useful information from an error message.

    i pressed enter it worked. much different from bt4.
