black screen while booting backtrack 5

hi,
i have been trying to install backtrack5 but i get a black screen after selecting the boot option. i can see some of the text but its very dim.
i have tried adjusting the screen brightness but there is no difference.
i have installed fedora 14 alongside backtrack4
and was hoping to delete backtrack4 and install backtrack5 instead. my computer is an acer aspire 57347, Intel GMA 4500m.
could anyone please help.

even though the screen is very dark, try typing:

root
toor

startx


see what happens
