Can't get wlan0 to show up in backtrack 5.

I have the output of my lshw and the blacklist_ath-pic.conf. its from a fresh install. My wireless card works fine in the past 4 or 5 versions of ubuntu and I heard that backtrack 5 was using an ubuntu kernel so I'm not sure why it wouldn't work out of the box. Any know what's wrong here??

It appears to be a driver issue. Make sure you have the proper drivers for your network adapter installed.

at command prompt type "rfkill list" and tell us what it says.

So if you insert the command i.e "iwconfig" what's the output from the command do you see these ifaces eth0 ,lo, and you should see your wlan(x).

Basically the (x) meaning whatever the iface is. But if your wireless card is associated with BT5 you should those ifaces. Now, if your using the vm have you detached the card from the host and associated it with the vm? And tried the "iwconfig" command again to see if you can communicate the card?

First, BT5 is not based on Ubuntu kernel..It is based on Ubuntu distro..All linux distros uses the same kernel and it has its versions, the last kernel is 3.4.x If I'm not wrong....

Second, need to know how to post. Include sensible info, in your case, only:
1. Laptop or Desktop brand, Networking hardware (brand and CHIPSET used by device) and Video hardware if you want to include it.
2. Dual boot?, USB boot? DVD Live?..Sorry, we cannot guess..One of the members tried to help and you posted, and I quote:

3. Specify the exact problem and what you've done to fix it if applicable. No need to post all your hardware.

have you checked the wifi card chipset, driver or module loaded? What have you done to fix it..Just iwconfig?..Anything else you might want to specify?...Did you started the networking services?..Specify all...
