Got this strange issue too ... gonna switch to KDE and see if it worksthanks for the tip! driving me nuts!
Hello.
Beginner so please have mercy.
When BT5 was released I immediately switched from BT4R2-KDE-VM-32 to BT5-GNOME-VM-32.
Happy with my choice I was until I wanted to learn wireless pentesting.
I bought myself an Alfa awus036h and can not get it working with either of the two mentioned above with ifconfig wlan0 up.
I get this error: SIOCSIFFLAGS: Unknown error 132
Searched it up and found alot having problems with this. It seems to be a VMware issue.
Following all the guides I could come across:
rfkill block all
rfkill unblock all
rmmod rtl8187
modprobe etc. etc. etc. and so on.
Same error.
But thought I would give it a go on the BT5-KDE-VM-32. And Voilá! Smooth as silk.
Dont even have to run the ifconfig wlan0 up, its up and running. =)
Now, all my work is on the GNOME and I can easily move it over, but it would be nice if anybody has any clue on whats going on..?
Btw, I also have a DLINK-DWA-160 and it works smooth with all three.
Please, any advice would be much appreciated.![]()
