Wireless Card

Hi Guys im new to the forum and to backtrack and im having an issue with the wireless card in my macbook
im using Oracle virtual machine with backtrack 5 and have the broadcom BCM43xx

iv done alot of google searches and found alot of info on this card with backtrack but nothing seems to be working for it

when i do an airmon-ng start wlan0 1 i get the message

Found 2 processes that could cause trouble.
If Airodump-ng, airplay-ng or airtun-ng stops working after a short period of tim, you may want to kill (some of) them!

Interface Chipset Driver

If i do an aireplay-ng -9 wlan0 i get a message

Interface WLAN0
ioctl (siocgifindex) failed: no such device

I have ran other commands through that i found from google without success.

can anyone help me get backtrack to recognise and use the wireless card?

you have the same problem as me, I am also running on a mac and using vmware. The internal airport extreme will not be recognized as a wireless card, only as a wired connection because of the virtual machine. You will need a usb wireless adapter as far as I know, feel free to correct me if I am wrong if anyone else knows

I had the same error using bt5 on vmware with a usb dongle. I simply killed the specified processes and was able to proceed.

In my experimenting, I've found that built-in wireless doesn't work well when BT5 is in a virtual machine. Sometimes the card would work ok, and other times it wouldn't. If feasible, I'd get a wireless USB network adapter.

You need to list your system and how you are running BT, eg usb boot or VMWare image

your friend needs to do more reading as Virtual machine running of BT require USB wireless devices in all cases accept for wired interfaces for networking. END OF STORY, I guess you might get the MAC internal device to work despite the inherent limitations coz I hear the MAC's are so much easier to use than PC's but I wouldn't hold my breath trying.!

yea it won't see your host wireless card as wireless only as ethernet connection..just like scottm99 said you'll have to use a usb adapter...if you can afford a new usb adapter card you should go with the AWUSO36H adapter made by ALFA it works like a dream..and it only cost like 20 dollars on amazon.com..well worth the 20 dollars..

**** happens with me, all this happens with me and then system freezes, everything freezes like it is an still image and not an OS.
I am using Broadcom 802.11n Network adapter, it is supposed to work fine without injection but it dont. Can anyone help me ?
