when you enter expert mode, after you built the new lilo.conf

it's the start new blank option

you will be asked for append some commands to kernel
paste the line i provide or param it yourself here must stay the correct root path

you will be asked for where you want lilo stay, here put mbr, select even if not in list the /dev/id of your drive

add a new linux part
param it like you want

install lilo

reboot

now the new bootloader is installed in the mbr of your disk

bt should boot

Tried the HDD installer after booting from the CD... the files are copied on to the USB Stick ,but when the processes finished, the USB Stick is all blank.

Any ideas?

Maybe we're talking about two different things.

I used Shamanvirtuel's USB loader for BT and it burned the iso to my USB stick.

Help me out here

i got backtrack 2 working on a live kingston usb stick 1gb, i can save to this etc. i can't save config etc . not nice. i bought a fast vista ready boost usb stick 4gb, it don't work. my 1 gb stick is a kingston 1gb kingston dti/data traveller, i just ordered a kingston dti/data traveller,4GB, and i think i can put the full install on it with no problems. i'll keep you posted.
