Script was updated, Version: 0.1, for now I will ask you to get it again using wget (link updated in the first post) because I just fixed the update option which apparently was broken.

When running the script I also included a changelog where you can see what was added/fixed.

    Hope you like it!

Problem is after a reboot , the system is all but formated and is a brick.
Is this the intended results of the update and Clean part of the script ?????

Good news is I have a clone.
Bad news is it is way far back , Just lost 8 hours of tweaking and I stalling
OK, looked at the code. Obviously not the source. Re built the system, blah blah blah...
Guss what.. Ran the update script rebooted and the system was dead again... Someone REALLY doesnt want me running that script.

Here is what I get -
    Alert! /host/ubuntu/disks/uuid....... does not exist

    Dropping to a shell

    BusyBox v1.13.3 - built-in shell ASH

Found these types of info https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/581157
but i have not found a solution yet.

Has anyone here experienced similar behavior like @furt1maggr3d10r ?

furt1maggr3d10r have done some over tweaking
the update script is a good script thanks sickness great work as usual
Im not saying you dont know what your doing furt1maggr3d10r buy did you reboot after all the tweaking and then do the update or get all weaked out
and then update as you may have deleted some files by accident and though the script ruined the system when it was the tweaking was the cause and you didnt
    realize it until you rebooted

Ive looked through the script and can see how it would wipe the files or delete

as sickness has said if anyone else has this happen please report as it maybe a valid problem

That's exactly what I'm trying to find out, I made tests myself also asked some people to test the script and no one reported such behavior yet ...

No tweaking.. BT 5 install, Nvidia driver updates. Reboot, all is well. Run script and whala..
What do you mean by "Ive looked through the script and can see how it would wipe the files or delete " ? which section ?

Does the update script update the kernel ?? I had a similar issue with BT4 and dual boot. Every Kernel update, I would lose one of my boots and had to modify the grub menu to get it back.

I am going to check if the ASUS G73 comes with some hidden Fat32 partition or something that may be getting in the way. I will re image today and see if I can do it again..

Also, I will look for some logs. But at that initramfs boot prompt, not a ton of commands available. I was able to do a ls and saw that the /pentest directory was gone. but my rapid7 install was still in the /opt

I like the script and dont want to do each manually, that is why I will keep trying.

    \Cheers

    Edit 1:

Hi - So I re imaged, did nothing but run update script and reboot. Came up OK.
Rand fdisk and ls and this was the results.

    root@bt:~# fdisk -l
fdisk: /opt/rapid7/nexpose/nsc/nxpgsql/pgsql/lib/libuuid.so.1: no version information available (required by /lib/libblkid.so.1)

    /dev/sda5 88222 91202 23933952 82 Linux swap / Solaris

    root@bt:~# ls /dev/disk/by-uuid

Anyone see an issue that i am missing that may cause issues ?
Never seen the line like above with the fdisk command though..

i will keep trying to reproduce. Obviously something I am doing, just only noticing after updating.

    Cheers

    Edit 2:

    FOUND IT!!!!!!!
Once in awhile you remove something, install something, and you get the prompt
blah blah blah, no longer needed, use apt-get autoremove ...

Ya OK, so that is what is doing it. I not remember seeing it last night.

Why is this causing my initramfs boot, no idea, but there ya go.

    Update away......

Sorry for the interruption and great script...

    cheers
