What were you using to put it on the usb? I first used Unetbootin but it was giving me the same problem you were so I tried pendrivelinux and it worked fine.
ok i have bt5 on a hp 4 gb flashdrive. i boot to flashdrive and it sits there at syslinux 4.03 ive tryed it on a cd and same problem. ive got it to work on my gaming laptop but i dont want it on that i have a toshiba satellite l305-s5917 vista sp2 32 bit used to be 64 bit. what could be the problem?
