This is what I did in Gnome 64b:
- did a fresh BT5 install
- put framework3 package in blacklist, so it wont upgrade through apt-get (and thus delete itself)
- apt-get update and upgradeCode:echo "framework3 hold" | dpkg --set-selections
- use update script sickness has made to upgrade Metasploit and other tools
Now I got a working Metasploit that is up-to-date as is BT5!
There is something wrong in current framework3 package, that totally deletes Metasploit in BT5, if you run "apt-get upgrade" after fresh install.
@Archangel-Amael: The Redmine link seems empty, but the problem hasn't been fixed (for BT5-x86 KDE atleast not).
What I've done:
Install BT5 KDE x86 from CD to HD (entire disk) using Install Backtrack installer @ desktop.
reboot
Set the network by editting /etc/network/devices and /etc/resolv.conf
reboot
in CLI (not started X yet) did a 'apt-get update' and 'apt-get upgrade'.
Nothing weird in update, upgrade however noticed that 4 packages would not get upgraded: backtrack-utils framework3 set tcpreplay
rebooted after all updates went proper and msfconsole worked normally.
apt-get distupgrade does update the 4 packages that where earlier ignored and fails on framework3, see screenshot below (is VM so and no X so can't copy/paste the text... sorry)

I've tried this process 3 times (complete with reinstall) so I think the bug is still active. If I can do anything or give more data let me know.
Thanks!
<edit> I noticed the image is crap quality after the resize by the forum, give me a pm if you want it, I'll put it online somewhere or email it.

"The difference between RAID1 and RAID0 is that the zero stands for how many files you're gonna have after a harddisk failure."
I have the same problem after apt-get update/upgrade everything stop working.....
What I get is ./framework.run missing..
chmod: cannot access `framework-64.run': No such file or directory
/var/lib/dpkg/info/framework.postinst: line 11: ./framework-64.run: No such file or directory
