if window$ boot after install, the pb is that your mbr was not correctly updated by installation
you can try to boot via live cd and reinstall lilo
liloconfig
choose expert
choose Begin with new
choose wait forever
choose install to mbr
choose /dev/sda
Add linux boot partition
choose /dev/sda6 where you have install BT
give name with no space
Add Windows boot partition
choose /dev/sda1
give name with no space
Install
this commands update MBR of disk /dev/sda for presenting a menu with BT and Windows partition choice... just highlight the one you want to boot and hit enter......
Reboot now you have dual boot

when installing backtrack 2 make sure that you follow this settings on the backtrack installer window:
Source (BackTrack cd): DON'T PUT ANYTHING
Install Backtrack to: /mnt/sda6
write MBR to: /dev/sda
this will make the trick on installing backtrack ....
remember after installing backtrack you wont be able to access your windows os but fret not follow this steps:
$: liloconfig
this is going to lead you through installing your windows info onto your boot loader, just choose simple session, then click enter, then install to your master boot record
$: nano /etc/lilo.conf
go to your #Linux bootable partition config begins section and make sure it is like this:
#Linux bootable partition config begins
image = /boot/vmlinuz
root=current
label=back|track
read-write
#linux bootable partition config ends
then finally :
$: lilo
and there you go, you will be able to boot from XP and BT
So many problems caused by people failing to read the provided documentation ahead of time...![]()

This is why there should be that advanced hang out lounge. If you cant perform a simple installation ( let alone know anything about linux ) dont get access to the advance forums.
[editz] People see hack WEP and all this stuff and dont even bother learning the correct way. Learn your operating system and then move up a little bit each time. Im sorry, im just a little angry at how some people dont learn things for themselves. Being spoonfed is the best way to show a cheap trick to your friends but other than that go home.
Do it right or not at all.

What I dont Understand is how you can go to the offensive security site and get your copy of back track and miss the huge section called documentation. inside that section are some very well done, made for idiots{like me} videos by mutts. I mean call me crazy but I never even get a program with out going to the main site for some documentation. Even if I get a torrent for my winblows system I STILL go to the origional website and get some sort of documentation so I dont waste countless hours trying to figure out somthing that is as easy as reading a few paragraphs. I guess I'm just a nerd.
If you can't follow simple instructions to install something, what exactly are you planning to do with BT2?
